Rolfing® Structural Integration
WHAT IS ROLFING®?
Rolfing® Structural Integration is a sophisticated form of hands-on therapy that works on the weblike complex of connective tissues (fascia) throughout the body to release restrictions in the tissue, and realign and balance the body.
Physical pain, discomfort, and dysfunction are often the result of imbalances in your tissue and structure. Rolfers™ analyze the body's structure and function to determine how well it moves, what tissue is restricted and needs more mobility, what areas need more support, and how the functionality of the parts affect the structure as a whole. Through systematic hands-on work, Rolfers™ release and mobilize tissue to balance the body and increase function so that you can meet the demands of your life with greater ease and resiliency.
IS ROLFING® PAINFUL?
Rolfing® is a therapeutic form of bodywork that works to release fascia that is bound up through thoughtful hands-on tissue manipulation. There is a spectrum of pressure that is necessary to do this, but my work is never painful.
I carefully listen to your nervous system to determine the appropriate pressure and touch for a specific area, be it deep or light depending on the circumstances. When employing a deeper pressure, I do not overwhelm your system. Rather, I work at an intelligent depth so that you do not "brace against" or "fight" my touch. Additionally, I am in constant conversation with you regarding the depth of my pressure and how you are receiving my work, and if needed I adjust my pressure accordingly.
WHAT IS THE 10-SERIES?
The 10-Series is a ten session framework that follows a progressive protocol (with each session building on the last) to bring optimal organization to your structure. The first three sessions focus on opening up the more superficial fascial layers that restrict your structure. Sessions four through seven focus on contacting the deeper "core layers" of the body where structural and postural patterns are held. The last three sessions focus on integrating the entire body and reinforcing the structural changes achieved in the previous sessions.
Throughout the 10-series, I will address all areas of your body while giving significant attention to specific tissue that needs the greatest amount of mobilization.
